So for today's update I want to discuss, shortly anyhow, about an article I read yesterday. It is titled "How to Win an Academy Award." It was uploaded by Roger Ebert and it seems it was written by Omer M. Mozaffar. Below is the link to the article. Read that first, and then continue reading below it.

I guess this wont be refuting the above article because I happen to agree, at least in part that there are certain molds that the academy puts films into to give their coveted award. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching the Oscars and even though I rarely, anymore, have the opportunity to see most of the films up for the award, but it does not escape my notice what kind of films get nominated in the first place.
Until this year, comedies were never really nominated for Oscars, at least not in the best picture category. I do not have enough insight to be able to give an in depth discussion on this article or the implications of it, but I do feel plenty of films get made solely for the purpose of getting nominated for an Academy Award rather than for the art of the film in the first place.
Not much of an update I'll admit. Not much intellectually to say. What do you think in regards to the above article?
